Hand Carved & Cast Hexagonal Green Vesuvianite Ring

This one started as wax. ✨

A green hexagonal vesuvianite set on top of a chunky ring that I carved from jeweler’s wax to match the angles of the stone, then sand cast in sterling silver. Heavier and more substantial than my fabricated settings, this is the kind of ring you feel on your hand — in the best way. A true statement piece. 

Sand casting involves pressing a piece made from jeweler’s wax into tightly packed sand, then carefully pouring molten silver into the impression it leaves behind. The silver often picks up texture from the sand, creating small surface irregularities that are a natural part of this casting method. I left some of that texture on this ring to give it a more rugged and organic look. These little variations mean no two castings come out exactly alike.
